City Renames Community Center in Honor of Former Councilwoman Gwendolyn M. Miller

Mayor Buckhorn and members of Tampa City Council will officially rename the Woodland Terrace Community Center in honor of former Councilwoman Gwendolyn M. Miller on Tuesday, September 27 at 3 p.m. The ceremony will take place at the Center, which is located at 6408 N. 32nd Street. The public is invited to attend.

Miller officially retired from public service in March of this year. During her tenure on Tampa City Council she was instrumental in securing funds to build the Woodland Terrace Community Center, which opened in 2002, and she successfully secured funds for its expansion in 2008.

Miller was first elected to Tampa City Council in 1995. She served as Chairperson from 2004 - 2008 and Chair Pro-Tem from 2008 until her retirement in 2011. Miller is married to former Florida State Senator Lesley "Les" Miller, Jr.
