The City is Seeking Input on Designs for Roy Jenkins Pool

03/18/15
The City of Tampa is seeking seeking public input on preliminary design plans for the repair and improvements for Roy Jenkins Pool. Please open the attached documents. They are two (2) drawings. One drawing is labeled Option A and the other is labeled Option B. At the public meeting on June 16, 2011, Option B was selected; however, your thoughts and comments are welcomed.

Options A & B drawings are similar in the following elements:
  • The main entry into the RJ Pool building faces Columbia Drive.
  • The 1st floor has three (3) multi-purpose rooms, a centrally located interior elevator, women and men’s restrooms with showers and dressing areas, first aid room, pool equipment, and storage rooms.
  • The 2nd floor has a main pool with a ramped walkway, a children’s activity pool, and a single level deck surrounding both pools.
  • Angled parking off of the alley.
Please review Option A for the following:
  • New lobby within existing pool building.
  • No expansion to the pool building.
  • Project development fits within property setbacks.
  • The 1st floor office locations.
  • The splash pad (in the greenspace) is small and closer to the pool building.
  • The splash pad restroom building is centrally located in the greenspace.
Please review Option B for the following:
  • New lobby and entry added, expanding the pool building towards Columbia Drive.
  • Project development requires variance to resolve setback encroachments. The front entry encroaches 12 feet towards Columbia Drive. The splash pad restroom building encroaches 12 feet south towards property line.
  • The 1st floor office locations.
  • The splash pad is larger and centrally located in the greenspace.
  • The splash pad restroom building is located in southern portion of the greenspace – away from the pool building.
