Following this year’s annual Krewe of Sant’ Yago Illuminated Knight Parade, Tampa’s Department of Solid Waste is prepared to strategically clean and return historic 7th Ave. to its pristine conditions, using the same  successful restoration methods applied to the Gasparilla Day Parade. The Gasparilla Day Parade clean-up generated approximately 2 tons of recycling materials and 33 tons of garbage. The city’s Parks and Recreation Department, Transportation and Storm Water Department, Department of Neighborhood Enhancement, and Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful organization also assisted with environmental restoration efforts.

"Our dedicated Solid Waste professionals take pride in keeping Tampa clean.  Prior to each special event, numerous planning meetings are held to review previous efforts and best practices.  We continuously identify areas of opportunity to improve efficiency. Tampa’s historic and beautiful streets and waterways are  treasure and must be protected and remain unaltered by our events," said Department Director, Mark Wilfalk.
