The community workshop will be the fourth public meeting for this project. This meeting will focus on the recommended alignment for a potential streetcar extension, which was identified based on extensive research, analysis, and public input received at the previous three meetings and through other communication channels.

The project team is recommending extending the streetcar system from Fort Brooke Garage to Tampa Heights to connect destinations throughout the core of Downtown. Reports on the City’s website offer background on project objectives, alignment options and evaluation results, and the team’s recommendations. Those reports can be accessed here.

During the next phase of the project, more detailed concepts for enhanced transit service along the preferred alignment will be completed, as will plans for modernization and improvement of the existing system. Phase two is expected to be completed by next fall, resulting in refined plans for extension and modernization that may be eligible for federal funding through TIGER, Small Starts, or other grant programs.
