Mayor Bob Buckhorn and Police Chief Jane Castor will hold their daily briefing at 10:30 a.m. today, in the Executive Conference Room on the 4th Floor of the Tampa Convention Center.

Police Chief Jane Castor, Fire Rescue Chief Tom Forward, and Sheriff David Gee at 4 p.m. today and again at 9 p.m. tonight at Tampa Police Headquarters located at 411 North Franklin Street.

Reminder – The Leroy Selmon Expressway remains closed until Friday, August 31 at approximately 5:00 a.m. The Selmon Reversible Lanes (REL) will remain open during this time to enter downtown Tampa and will operate as normal.

Reminder to customers using the Fort Brooke, Whiting Street garage and private surface lots east of Florida Avenue during the Republican National Convention that they may experience significant delays due to full vehicle checks, including the use of dogs and searches of trunks, at the security check points prior to entering these facilities. These procedures will be in effect until 8/31/12 at 6 am.

The second day of RNC related activities ended with only one arrest by the security coalition. Officers repeatedly warned a group of individuals to remove bandannas from their faces because concealing their identity is prohibited in the event zone. All of the individuals complied except one and he was arrested for violating the event ordinance.

Suspect: Dominick Delarosa, W/M, DOB 11/13/92

Charges: Misdemeanor - Event zone ordinance violation and opposing an officer without violence.
