From Friday – Sunday the city of Tampa will light up orange to raise awareness on gun violence. Mayor Castor will also join Moms Demand Action for an event at Fair Oaks Community Park on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

“Every day 100 Americans are killed with guns,” said Mayor Jane Castor. “It’s incredibly important that the residents of the City of Tampa and those all across the country become educated on the growing epidemic. When we are no longer safe in our schools, our places of worship, our municipal buildings, our parks, our nightlife,  we must act. Hopes and prayers are no longer enough – that’s why I pledge to work with elected leaders across the country put an end to this madness. Not one more death by gun violence is acceptable.”
