City of Tampa Mayor’s Hispanic Advisory Council Seeks Nominations for the 2019 Matilda Martinez Garcia Leadership Award

The City of Tampa Mayor’s Hispanic Advisory Council welcomes nominations from the community for its 2019 Matilda Martinez Garcia Leadership Award. Each year the award recognizes a person or organization that has made extraordinary contributions to the betterment of Hillsborough County’s Hispanic community.  The recipient of the award will be recognized at the 21st Annual Latinos Unidos Luncheon on May 8, 2019, at Armature Works in Tampa.

Established in 2013, the award honors the late Matilda Martinez Garcia, a respected community leader and charter member of the Council, which was founded by then-mayor Bob Martinez in 1983. Past recipients of the award include Ms. Martinez Garcia, Mr. Rafael Martinez Ybor, Mr. Tony Morejon, Ms. Maria M. Hernandez and the late Dr. Luz Paredes Lono.

To nominate an individual or organization for the Matilda Martinez Garcia Leadership Award, please fill out the online form at https://www.tampagov.net/hispanic-advisory-council Complete the form outlining the nature and breadth of the nominee’s contributions and include two letters supporting the nomination. The deadline for nominations is Friday, March 22, 2019.
