City of Tampa Mayor's Latinos Unidos Luncheon Celebrates 15th Anniversary with Keynote Speaker CNN's Mercedes Soler
The City of Tampa Mayor's Hispanic Advisory Council is pleased to confirm its keynote speaker for the 2013 Latinos Unidos Luncheon, Mercedes Soler, CNN En EspanÞol, co-host of NotiMujer show. This is the 15th anniversary of the luncheon and a milestone for Tampa Bay Hispanics to be proud of, as the proceeds from this event will go towards funding the City of Tampa Mayor’s Hispanic Advisory Council scholarship programs at various institutions in Tampa including University of Tampa, University of South Florida, and Hillsborough Community College.
The luncheon will take place at noon on Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at the Tampa Convention Center in downtown Tampa.
This year's keynote speaker is an inspiration for young Hispanics looking to better themselves through education with hopes to reach the American Dream. Cuban born, Mercedes Soler is the anchor for the CNN En EspanÞol magazine show NotiMujer, along with Glenda UmanÞa. Her work has been recognized by several media organizations, including the National Association of Television Arts and Sciences, which nominated her 15 times for the Emmy Award. The Academy has bestowed the Emmy on her five times. Mercedes Soler joined CNN En EspanÞol in October of 2010 after having worked as a broadcast journalist, columnist, author, radio commentator, producer, director and professor, in what has been a prolific career of more than two decades.
The Mayor’s "Latinos Unidos" Luncheon will be cablecast live on City of Tampa Television (CTTV). CTTV can be found on Bright House Networks Channel 615 and Channel 15 on Verizon FiOS.
The Latinos Unidos luncheon brings together Tampa Bay area Hispanics in an effort to promote and showcase the cultural and financial influence Latinos have in our communities.
