City of Tampa names new Parks & Recreation Director
Paul Dial has been named the as the next Parks & Recreation director for the City of Tampa. Dial will fill the vacancy left by exiting Parks Director Greg Bayor who’s retiring. Dial most recently served as Chief Administrative Officer for Frederick County Maryland.
Paul Dial was born and raised in West Virginia and graduated from Marshall University. He has over 36 years of experience in the Parks and Recreation field. In past employment he served as Director of Parks and Recreation for Princeton WV, Ocean Pines Maryland and lastly for 19 years for Frederick County, Maryland. Since June 2016 he has served as Chief Administrative Officer for Frederick County, Maryland, which has a population of approximately 245,000 residents.
“In a time of growth and activation, Greg Bayor has led Tampa’s Parks & Recreations Department well and I wish him all the best in his retirement,” said Mayor Bob Buckhorn. “Since Greg joined us in April of 2012, we have renovated and reopened 10 parks, completed five playground renovations, restored four pools, opened a 147 acre nature park, added two Cal Ripken Sr. Foundation synthetic turf fields, installed 36 new disc golf holes, resurfaced 2.42 acres of sports courts totaling over 342 acres and dozens of new programs and activities for our community. Which includes the National Award winning Stay & Play Teen program. He should be proud of his time here.
