Tampa, Fla. (March 16, 2016) – This week, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), awarded the City of Tampa with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the current budget. This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and represents a significant achievement by our Revenue and Finance department.

“It’s no surprise our team is being recognized by GFOA for their exemplary job presenting the budget,” said Mayor Buckhorn. “We are lucky to have the best and the brightest minds representing the City of Tampa, their attention to detail as well as their ability to focus on providing an in-depth analysis of the city’s financial state while making the budget consumer friendly speaks volumes.  We look forward to yet another stellar year.”

The GFOA established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program (Budget Awards Program) in 1984 to encourage and assist state and local governments to prepare budget documents of the very highest quality that reflect both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA’s best practices on budgeting and then to recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal.
