The City of Tampa advises drivers that the President of the United States will be visiting the area on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 through Wednesday, September 17, 2014.

Roads, businesses, and parking garages south of Kennedy in downtown Tampa will be affected from late Tuesday, September 16, 2014 through Wednesday, September 17. Variable message boards will be placed throughout the area to notify motorists of street closures and any other impacts to their commute. However, the City of Tampa asks drivers to be flexible, allow for extra travel time, and travel through the area with caution.

If possible, commuters working in downtown are asked to flex their hours; consider leaving early Tuesday afternoon as well as arriving earlier or later than usual on Wednesday morning.

All parking garages – private and public – will be open for business; however, tenants of some garages will be subject to additional security screenings and are encouraged to be flexible, as entrances and exits to the garages may shift from day-to-day. On Tuesday, September 16 and, Wednesday, September 17, tenants of the Bank of America garage, located at 101 E Kennedy Blvd., must enter off Ashley Drive.

However, to avoid traffic and security screenings, motorists are urged to consider parking north of Kennedy Boulevard:

  • Poe Garage, located at 802 N Ashley Dr.; $1.20 an hour
  • Twiggs St Garage, located at 901 E Twiggs St., $1.20 an hour
  • Royal Regional Lot, located at 1240 N Tampa St; $2.00 flat fee for the day
