City of Tampa Street Closures and Traffic Advisory for Chosen 1/2 Marathon on November 15, 2014

The Chosen ½ Marathon takes place this Saturday, November 15 in downtown Tampa. The race will start on Channelside Drive at Morgan Street in front of the Amalie Arena at 6:30 a.m.

Drivers are encouraged to adjust travel time within and around the race course. Most road closures and detours along the routes will be in effect between 4:30 am and 11:30 am. At 4:30 a.m., Tampa Police will begin closing Bayshore Blvd., and the entire race route will be closed by 6 a.m. Streets will reopen on a rolling basis as soon as the last participant has passed and all course support materials have been removed. Streets along the earlier miles of the route will open earlier than roads along the end of the route.

Residents and businesses located near the race course are urged to plan ahead and to be aware of road closure schedules and alternate access routes.

Street Closures for Chosen ½ Marathon

3:30 a.m. - Channelside Drive from Florida Ave to Nebraska and Eunice to Old Water Street
4:30 a.m. - Bayshore Blvd, Brorien Street Bridge and Little Bayshore Blvd. to Gandy Blvd.
5 a.m. - Platt Street from Hyde Park to Florida Avenue and Davis Island
6 a.m. - Entire Route closed

Chosen 1/2 Marathon Course Description

The Chosen ½ Martha starts and finishes on Channelside Drive at Morgan Street. Participants will run over the Channelside Bridge to Bayshore Blvd. then onto Davis Islands. Miles 1-5 are on Davis Islands. Runners will exit the island via the south lane of access ramp onto the northbound lanes of Bayshore Blvd. (northbound lanes). The turnaround is at W. Lawn St, where they will run for miles 9-12 in the southbound lanes of Bayshore back to the finish on Channelside Dr.
