District 3 officers are completing the second phase of their project honoring Officer Dave Curtis and Officer Jeff Kocab. They dedicated the The Hallways of Heroes on the one-year anniversary of the tragic deaths, June 29th, 2011. This Saturday, the department will dedicate the final phase of the two-part project. The lush landscaping, monuments bearing the officers’ names and benches create a park-like setting for private reflection.
Pavers line The Hallways of Heroes with the badges of Officers' Kocab and Curtis. Illuminated by a blue light, a glass door bears etchings of their badges and a mural lines the hallway, reminding each officer of our fallen heroes.
Each element of this project was strategically placed. As officers pull into the District, they will drive past the garden. Once they park and walk into the building, they will enter through the Hallway of Heroes. Remembering and ensuring Jeff and Dave’s memory lives on forever.
