Detectives Arrest Robbery and Kidnapping Suspect
WHEN: 2/6/14, 2:30 p.m.
WHERE: 8609 12th Street North, Tampa
SUSPECT: Cassius Pickett, 03/27/1964, B/M, 8609 12th Street North, Tampa
CHARGES: Robbery x2, False Imprisonment, Kidnapping, Carjacking (he is being charged in the 1/15 crimes. We are still investigating whether or not he is involved in the Comfort 4 Less Robbery on 1/20)
DETAILS: Detectives submitted forensic evidence from the Dunkin’ Donuts robbery and the carjacking to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. FDLE informed detectives this morning that the forensic evidence identified Pickett as the suspect. Officers from the detective and ROC squads conducted surveillance on the suspect’s home and when he arrived, he was arrested without incident. The suspect is a registered sexual predator. He was released from a Georgia prison in December 2013 after serving 20 years for sexual battery, robbery and kidnapping.

CARJACKING: 1/15/2014, 3301 East Hillsborough Avenue, Tampa
The victim was leaving City Pawn in her car when the suspect approached her with a gun. He forced her to move over into the passenger seat of her vehicle and made threatening statements. He robbed her and drove her to North 46th Street and East Hillsborough Avenue, he got out of the car and fled southbound on 46th Street.
ROBBERY 1: 1/15/2014, Dunkin’ Donuts, 3512 East Hillsborough Avenue, Tampa
The suspect entered the Dunkin Donuts at 3512 East Hillsborough Avenue and produced a black handgun. He then ordered the clerks to give him all the money and remove their clothing. He wanted access to the manager's office and safe, but the employees did not have the ability to give it to him. He fled westbound from the location.
ROBBERY 2: 1/20/2014, Comfort 4 Less, 10407 North Nebraska Avenue, Tampa
The suspect entered the business and demanded money at gunpoint. The victim gave the suspect money from her purse.
