Detectives Arrest Student with a Gun

WHERE: Cayuga Street East and Seminole Avenue North
VICTIM: Randy Benck, 12/1/1996, B/M, 2013 East Henry Avenue, Tampa
SUSPECT: Antonio Comer, 5/30/1997, B/M, 1419 East Mohawk Avenue, Tampa
CHARGES: Carrying a Concealed Firearm, Aggravated Battery, Possession of a Firearm on School Property, Minor in Possession of a Firearm and Tampering with Evidence.
DETAILS: The victim and the suspect were involved in a fight after school. During the physical altercation, the suspect pulled a gun from his pocket, pointed it and threatened the victim. The suspect pistol-whipped the victim. An anonymous person called the police to report the fight. When officers arrived, several males fled on foot. An officer saw the suspect throw the gun in a nearby trash can. Another officer caught the suspect as he was running away. During the interview, the suspect admitted that he had a gun on the Hillsborough High School campus yesterday. The investigation is ongoing to determine how he obtained the gun.
