Victim: Aaron Keith Cordes, B/M, DOB: 09/09/58, at large

Suspect: Jason Burnham, W/M, DOB: 3/1/81, 37606 Tall Pines Drive, Zephyrhills.

Charges: Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Death

Detectives received a tip from Burnham's co-worker who saw news coverage on the crash. He told detectives that Burnham drove a Ford Explorer that matched the description police gave and that Burnham said he hit a deer, but there was paint on the vehicle. Detectives were able to use this information along with evidence left at the scene to narrow down an extensive list of vehicles and identify the driver. During the investigation, Burnham contacted detectives and made arrangements to meet with them in the county. Detectives interviewed Burnham at the Downtown police headquarters. He was arrested and charged with Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Death and booked into Orient Road Jail.
