Charges: Leaving the scene with death and Tampering with evidence

As a result of the media coverage, detectives received an anonymous tip about a vehicle with front end and windshield damage. After numerous interrogations, they identified the driver of the vehicle. During his interview, the suspect admitted to the hitting the victim and leaving the scene. He said he was scared.

It does not appear the suspect had been drinking. Just a note that had the suspect stayed at the scene and he showed no signs of impairment, he would not have been charged with a crime.
