CHARGES: Impersonating a police officer, sexual battery, kidnapping

SUSPECT VEHICLE: Suzuki Grand Vitara

VICTIM: 19-year-old, H/F

ARREST TIME: 6/8/2011, 5:30 p.m.

DETAILS: On 6/7/11, the victim and her boyfriend were involved in a verbal altercation at Rome Avenue and Waters Avenue. The suspect saw them arguing and stopped his vehicle. He told them he was an off duty police officer and wanted to give the victim a safe ride home and question her about her boyfriend. When the victim's boyfriend questioned the suspect about being a police officer, he said that he wasn't allowed to carry a badge off duty. He also threatened to throw the boyfriend in jail if he interfered. She got into the car and he said he had to stop at the bank to make a withdrawal. He went to the Bank of America at 10050 Florida Avenue North where he was captured on video surveillance. After the bank withdrawal, he indicated that he was driving the victim home. He drove past the victim's home and parked in the CVS lot at 9202 North Florida Avenue where he committed a sexual act. The victim quickly escaped, hid in some bushes and waited. After a few minutes, she called 911. Detectives were able to determine the suspect's identity through bank surveillance video and his vehicle. When interviewed, the suspect changed his story numerous times before eventually admitting that he went too far.
