Detectives Investigating Bank Robbery

WHERE: 800 Harbor Island Boulevard, Sun Trust Bank
WHEN: January 13, 2011, 7:15 a.m.
SUSPECT: W/M, 5'10", early 30s, 160 lbs., black or blue hooded windbreaker with a white logo, jeans.
As the manager was arriving to work to open the bank, the suspect jumped out from behind the bushes. He implied he had a gun and forced the manager into the bank. The bank manager hit a silent alarm button notifying police of the robbery. Officers arrived within minutes. Their arrival scared the suspect and he ran out the back door without any money. Rapid Offender Control (ROC), patrol officers, K-9 and Air Service set up a perimeter to search for the suspect. Marine Patrol also searched the water in area. For two hours, traffic on and off of Harbour Island was restricted while they searched for the suspect. All vehicles leaving Harbor Island were searched. Rampello Elementary School was on lockdown. Attached are photographs of the suspect. The video is being processed and as soon as it is ready, we will release it via Media Alert.
