Tampa Police Arrest Murder Suspect

LOCATION: 821 South Dale Mabry Highway
VICTIM: Rolando Rivera-Arroyo, H/M, DOB: 1/29/39, no known address
SUSPECT: Michael Stewart Marston, W/M, DOB: 01/01/79, 8602 North Sheldon Rd. Apt 1201 Tampa, Florida
CHARGES: Second Degree Murder, Resist Arrest with Violence, Illegal Dumping, Burglary, Petit Theft, Criminal Mischief
SUSPECT VEHICLE: White Toyota
The suspect attacked the victim after a disagreement in the parking lot of a South Tampa church early Thursday morning. The suspect stabbed the victim then ran him over with his car. He left the victim under the vehicle and walked away from the scene.
An officer encountered him walking at Henderson Boulevard and Swann Avenue at 4:15 a.m. At that time, he was transported to Memorial Hospital for a broken finger that he suffered during his violent attack. During the investigation, detectives identified Marston as the murder suspect. When detectives arrived at the hospital to arrest the suspect, he violently fought them. The officers were not injured.
Prior to the murder, Marston burglarized a storage area at his ex-wife's apartment at 3318 Deleon Street. He stole various items and damaged property. Detectives recovered the stolen property in the parking lot where the murder took place.
The victim does not have any known family members. It is the hope of detectives that media coverage may help them find the victim's family.
WHERE: 821 South Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa
VICTIM: Adult Hispanic male
DETAILS: Around 5:45 a.m. this morning, 8/16/12, an officer noticed a vehicle parked underneath the awning of Christ the King Catholic Church, 821 South Dale Mabry Highway. As she pulled up to the front of the church, she and a maintenance worker who had just walked out noticed a body under the vehicle. The victim died as a result of homicidal violence. We have not determined the identity of the victim and don’t anticipate having the identity today. The victim is an older Hispanic male. He died sometime overnight. A person of interest is in custody on unrelated matters. We don’t anticipate murder charges today.
