Detectives Searching Area After Homeless Person Reports Bones

Tampa Police Detectives, the Medical Examiner and USF anthropologists are searching for evidence near Sligh Avenue and 22nd Street North, between the road and the railroad tracks. A homeless person called TPD stating he saw bones in that area. Officers responded and discovered several bones that appeared human. Currently the team is searching to locate, identify and collect any additional evidence, including additional bones. The Medical Examiner and anthropologists will determine if they are in fact human remains. There is no information at this point on whether or not a crime has taken place.
