Detectives Searching for Burglary Suspect

WHEN: Between 5/23/12, 7 p.m. and 5/24/12, 4:30 p.m.

WHERE: 4505 East 21st Avenue, Tampa (Highland Pines Park)

VICTIM: Highland Pines Cougars Football Team. The players are 5 – 14 years old

DETAILS: A suspect broke into the shed at Highland Pines Park where the Highland Pines Cougars store their football gear. The suspect took over $2,000 worth of equipment consisting of; six footballs, 40 helmets, 24 ear pieces, 10 shoulder pads, 100 black belts, three kicking blocks, one repair kit and three kicking tees.

It is unclear if the burglaries are related, but detectives are investigating a second similar burglary

WHEN: Between 5/26/12, 12 p.m. and 5/29/12, 5 p.m.

WHERE: 2119 Perio Street West, Tampa

VICTIM: Tampa Bay Youth Football League.

DETAILS: The suspect forced entry into the football equipment storage area and removed 50 brand new helmets and 60 shoulder pads valued at $6,000. The helmets were white and did not have the league logos on them yet.
