Tampa Police detectives are cracking down on unlicensed air conditioning contractors before the hot summer months arrive. Undercover detectives posing as homeowners met with fraudulent contractors during an operation aimed to stop unlicensed workers. The suspects were taken into police custody once they agreed to complete the air conditioning work. Officers transported each suspect to a processing area at Ragan Park where they were charged with Contracting without a License and given a notice to appear in court.

Anyone who has been victimized by an unlicensed contractor is urged to call the Tampa Police Department's Construction Fraud Hotline at 813-276-3291. Citizens can also call the hotline to check whether or not a contractor is licensed to work in the City of Tampa.
