Effective immediately – Closure of Bering Street and Columbia Drive on Davis Islands

This notice is archived content and this information may no longer be accurate.

The closure at the intersection of Bering Street and Columbia Drive will remain closed for one (1) month while department crews begin repairs on a large sewer force mainline pipe. The pipe, bored-through on Tuesday afternoon by a private utility company, caused a sewer overflow in the area. Last night, department crews were able to stop and contain the overflow caused by the bore-through.

While this repair is ongoing, traffic around the closed section of the road will be limited to local traffic only. Barricades and signs will remain in the area to assist with rerouting and traffic flow. Modifications to this closure may be necessary during the course of the repair.

The City of Tampa recommends that motorists use alternative routes to avoid traffic congestion.
