Tampa teens, their parents, and other concerned citizens are invited to a FREE educational forum, Keeping Respect in Relationships, on domestic violence, an issue that impacts many members in the Tampa Bay community. The event is to be held on Wednesday, April 10, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Barksdale Adult Activity Center, 1801 North Lincoln Avenue in Macfarlane Park.

The Mayor’s Youth Leadership Council, a program of the City of Tampa that allows local teens to develop their leadership skills and apply them through various service projects and workshops, sponsors the forum.

Community members will hear from a variety of experts who will provide a deeper understanding of the impact and prevention of domestic violence. Furthermore, they will discuss the law enforcement aspect and legal implications of this issue. Following the presentations, youth council members will facilitate an audience question and answer portion.

The forum will feature The Spring of Tampa Bay’s Christine Meister, Tampa Police Detective Susan Harmison, Assistant State Attorney Lizzie Muller, and mother Lucia Robles who will talk about the personal effects of domestic abuse.

Reservations for the event are requested by April 5, 2019 and can be made by contacting Molly Biebel, City of Tampa Youth Development Coordinator, at (813) 274-5909, or via email at molly.biebel@tampagov.net.
