Tampa teens, their parents, and other interested individuals are invited to attend a FREE educational forum on environmental sustainability, an issue that directly affects the Tampa Bay community, our nation, and our planet. Growing a Greener Community will be held on Wednesday February 20, 2019 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Barksdale Adult Activity Center, 1801 Northern Lincoln Avenue in Macfarlane Park.

The Mayor’s Youth Leadership Council, a program of the City of Tampa that works to allow local teens the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and apply them through various service projects and event workshops, sponsors the forum.

Panelists will speak on the pressing issues regarding the environment. Furthermore, they will discuss ways in which individuals can make easy changes in their own homes to benefit our Tampa Bay Area. The youth council members following the presentations will facilitate an audience question and answer portion.

The forum will feature City of Tampa Recycling Specialist Edgar Castro Tello, Environmental Specialist Julia Palaschak, and Horticulturalist Ken Akins.

While the event is free, reservations are requested by February 14, 2019 and can be made my contacting Molly Biebel, Youth Development Coordinator, at 813-274-5909 or via email at molly.biebel@tampagov.net.
