You know it's spring when the Friday evening air fills with music around Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, and then the Lowry Park Bandshell. Now in its 27th year, the Friday Extra Concert Series is Tampa’s longest running concert series and highlights local musicians and bands. The concert series begins April 4th at 7pm in Curtis Hixon Park and continues there through the month of April (with the exception of April 18). In May, the series returns to its birthplace, the Lowry Park Bandshell, and finishes there on the last Friday in May. Here's the full lineup, featuring a wide variety of awesome local talent, from rock to country to jazz:

April 4: The Ken Petersen Band (classic rock), Sydney (acoustic soul and folk)
April 11: Urban Gypsies (tribal, disco, bluegrass and funk), Tim Hutchinson (acoustic folk and pop)
April 25: Southern Train (country), Amer Lynn (country)
May 2: Johnny Cakes and the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypso (ska punk), Danielle Decosmo (acoustic folk, pop)
May 9: Theatre (rock), Diana Deiber (acoustic folk, pop)
May 16: Mindwalk (jazz), Al Secen Jazz Quartet (jazz)
May 23: Distinguished Men of Brass, Duo Vida (world contemporary)
