Tampa’s Construction Services Office FY2015 permitting report highlights yet another record breaking year since the economic downturn for the City . The $2.4 billion in permits is another indication that our local economy and the City is strong and continues to grow.

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, this City has it’s swagger back and I could not be more excited about these numbers,” said Mayor Bob Buckhorn. “ Not only did Construction Services increase their permitting value by nearly $400,000,000 but they did so with a lean and mean staff. I can’t wait to see what 2016 brings.”

FY 2015 (end of year): Permit Totals

*To note, in FY 2014 the city had a total of 34,500 permits totaling $2,031,321,544.

In 2011, Mayor Buckhorn convened a group of local developers, engineers, attorneys, and neighborhood representatives to create an Economic Competitiveness Report for the City of Tampa, outlining Tampa’s strengths and challenges for growth and development. Shortly after, Mayor Buckhorn created a One Stop Permitting Shop, merging all staff involved in the permitting and regulatory process into one facility in order to expedite the process.
