Home Invasion Suspect Arrested

WHERE: 2625 South Union Street, St. Petersburg
SUSPECT: Alvin Howard, 09/24/1977, B/M, 2625 South Union Street, St. Petersburg
CHARGES: Armed kidnapping, armed robbery, armed burglary, aggravated assault
DETAILS: Crime scene technicians sent DNA left at the scene to FDLE for analysis. The analysis identified the suspect. Detectives went to the suspect’s residence today and placed him under arrest. The victim’s television was found in his home. He was transported to booking without incident. The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible. He was released from prison last year after serving time for similar offenses.

Victim: White Female in her later 20's

Suspect Info: 25-35 year old black male, 5'10-6'0 with a stocky build last seen wearing all black clothing and a black beanie. He spoke with a deep, scruffy voice.

Details: The armed suspect followed the victim into her home where he tied her up, ransacked the property and stole valuables. The suspect was in the victim's home for approximately 45 minutes. After he left, the victim was able to free herself and run to a neighbor's home and call 911. Officers launched an extensive search for the suspect. The search is ongoing. Based on the suspect's actions in the home, detectives are working to determine if a sex crime took place so the victim's name and her address are being withheld in accordance with Florida State law.
