Suspect Arrested in Morning Homicide

WHEN: Wednesday, June 11, 2014, 6 a.m.

WHERE: 5111 Palm Park Court, #205, Tampa

VICTIM: James Williams, 6/18/85, B/M, Address Restricted (he is the son of a Tampa Police Officer)

SUSPECT: Gregory Charlemagne, 7/30/1983, B/M, 2530 West Union Street, Tampa

CHARGES: 2nd Degree Murder

DETAILS: Defendant (Gregory Charlemagne) and witness (Miriame Bernard) dated for seven years and have two children together. The two recently split up and Bernard moved to 5111 Palm Park Ct #205 Tampa FL. Her new boyfriend was staying with her. Bernard walked out of her bedroom after hearing a noise and saw the suspect walking towards her. The suspect pushed her up against a wall. At that time, the victim (Williams) exited the bedroom and intervened. Bernard grabbed her children from their bedroom and fled the apartment. The suspect and Williams had a brief physical confrontation and the suspect shot the victim. The suspect fled the scene, but turned himself in a short time later. During his interview with detectives, the suspect admitted to the crime.
