Kids Bored this Summer? Space Available in Special Interest Summer Camps

Don't let your child sit home playing video games this summer.  Whether your child is interested in sports, the environment or a little bit of everything the City of Tampa’s Parks and Recreation Department has a camp to inspire them.

Space is still available in the following special interest summer camps:

Mangrove Marcus and His Aquatic Adventure - If your child loves the water and watching all the creatures that call it home then this is the camp for him/her. Campers will explore aquatic habitats, snorkel, swim, use seine and dip nets and visit a variety of marine environments.

Camp location: Loretta Ingraham Complex, located at 1611 N. Hubert Ave. Camp fee is $100. Camp hours: 9 .am. - 4:30 p.m. Camp dates: July 16 - July 20 (12 to 14 year olds) and July 23 - July 27 (8 to 12 year olds).

Golf Camp - This camp is designed for the novice and beginner golfer and will give your child the tools to enjoy this great fame for a lifetime. Camp location: Port Tampa Community Center, located at 4702 W. McCoy St. Ages: 8 and 12. Camp fee is $25. Camp hours are 9 a.m. - noon. Camp date: July 16 - 20

Kids Create Art Camp - Allow your kid to dip their toes in visual and performance arts by signing them up for Kids Create Art Camp. Children are taught everything from pottery techniques and art history to sculpture, painting and much more. Camp location: North Hubert Art Studio, located at 309 N. Hubert Ave. Ages: 8-12. Camp fee: $75. Camp hours: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Camp date: July 23 - 27.
