Local Foundation donates Active Shooter Response Kits to Tampa Police

WHAT:                  The Yerrid Foundation, in partnership with Rise Tampa, Our Police Foundation, presented Chief Eric Ward and the Tampa Police Department with Active Shooter Response Kits.

WHEN:                  Friday, September 30, 2016, 8:30 AM

WHERE:                Tampa Police Headquarters, 411 North Franklin Street


Steve Yerrid, of The Yerrid Foundation partnered with Rise Tampa, Our Police Foundation to donate over $28,000 for the purchase of 75 Point Blank Active Shooter Response Kits.  The kits include:

*             MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment)

*             Plate Carrier with (2) ID Panels,

*             1 Front 10x12 Level III+ SA Rifle Plate,

*             1 Rear 10x12 Level III+ SA Rifle Plate, and

*             1 Carry Bag

Each vest is valued at $385 and was purchased from Federal Eastern International, Inc.  The vests are external and are designed to be worn over the officer's uniform and in addition to existing soft body armor.  The donated armor provides officers with an additional level of protection and is capable of defeating higher level rifle threats.  This armor is worn during active shooters and other high risk situations.
