Mayor Bob Buckhorn appointed Ashley Bauman to Public Affairs Director. In her position, Bauman will oversee all communications and marketing for the City of Tampa.

“Ashley’s background in strategic communications will make her a natural fit. She brings a tremendous amount of experience to the position, and her diverse background will only be an asset to the citizens of Tampa,” said Mayor Bob Buckhorn. “Tampa has an amazing story to tell, and Ashley will help us share that story locally as well as nationally.”

Bauman, a Florida native, comes to the City of Tampa having worked most recently in Washington, D.C. at Scott Circle, in strategic communications and public relations, where she oversaw a diverse portfolio of clients. She previously served as a Senior Communications Advisor to Democratic National Committee's Chair, Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz. She also served as Communications Director for the Democratic Party of Virginia and as Statewide Press Secretary for Organizing for America-Florida.

Bauman reports directly to the Mayor, and replaces Ali Glisson, who resigned to pursue other opportunities.

Bauman’s salary will be $110,000. Her first day is scheduled to be Monday, September 14, 2015, and she must be confirmed by Tampa City Council.
