Mayor Buckhorn will join community leaders to cut the ribbon and celebrate the opening of Williams Park Pool on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. Williams Park Pool is located at 4362 East Osborne Street.

The City of Tampa anticipates that the pool will be open for use beginning on Tuesday, pending inspection from the Hillsborough County Department of Health.

"The re-opening of Williams Park Pool is going to be a great day for the entire East Tampa community. We have made the needed renovations, and it will now be a fun, safe place for the community to enjoy," said Mayor Bob Buckhorn.

Once open, Williams Park Pool will remain open through September 30, 2013. Through the summer season, the pool will be open 7 days a week; after the summer season, the pool will be open four days a week, including weekends.

Construction began in January 2013 with Taborelli Construction doing the repair work and renovations. Work included repair of the pool shell, replacement of the pool deck, new pool operating equipment, as well as operating and safety improvements to meet current health department codes and ADA requirements. The total project cost $1.3 million.

Williams Park Pool was closed to the public in 2009 when the pool did not meet public health and safety guidelines; these renovations will rectify all public health and safety concerns.
