Tampa, Fla. (March 4, 2015) – Mayor Bob Buckhorn will host the fourth annual Mayor’s River O’Green in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. The dyeing of the river will occur at approximately 11 a.m.

“I look forward to our River O’Green event every year. Turning the Hillsborough River bright green each year to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day is just one of the perks of having a mayor of Irish descent,” said Mayor Bob Buckhorn. “It’s a great day to bring the family to downtown Tampa and enjoy the day.”

The City of Tampa in partnership with Grow Financial will dye the Hillsborough River kelly green between Cass Street Bridge and Kennedy Bridge. The dye is potable water grade, non-toxic, and biodegradable; it’s used primarily to trace leaks and in search and rescue efforts in large bodies of water.

In addition to a vibrant, bright green Hillsborough River, entertainment, food trucks and activities will all be on hand. Irish entertainment on the Krewe of Shamrock stage will feature Irish band Lucid Druids, Irish folk band Paddy O’Furniture, Tampa Gymnastic and Dance Show Stars, and the Scariff Hardiman School of Irish Dance.

Fun and games are also available for all ages. In the special children’s area, Games, Inflatables, Arts & Crafts will be provided by the Tampa Parks and Recreation Department, Lowry Park Zoo, and more.

Any attendee who brings three non-perishable food items will receive a green "Saint Patrick's Army" shirt provided by the Salvation Army. All donations will benefit the Salvation Army and provide support for those in need.

The Tampa Downtown Partnership will sell alcohol with benefits going towards programing in the downtown parks.

The event, including the entertainment and activities, are free and open to the public; however, that does not include vendor items.

A complete list of confirmed vendors and entertainment is available at and below.
