Last week, Mayor Bob Buckhorn traveled with the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation to Atlanta for the International Economic Development Council’s (IEDC) annual meeting. At the meeting Mayor Buckhorn was bestowed the IEDC’s Chairman’s Award for Leadership in Economic Development. The Chairman's Award is given to individuals who have shown exemplary commitment to economic development throughout their careers.

“I had the pleasure of presenting Mayor Buckhorn with this award last week in front of hundreds of economic developers from across the globe,” said Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corporation’s President and CEO and Chair of the IEDC Craig Richard. “Tampa’s remarkable economic resurgence is a testament to his hard work and vision for this great city. This is a city that’s soaring and we couldn’t be more excited to work with such a remarkable team.”

“I am honored to be the recipient of this year’s Chairman’s award from the IEDC,” said City of Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn.  “While it may be my name on the award, it reflects the hard work of our economic development professionals and most importantly, this City, that rose from the wreckage of the recession to become the place in America that everyone is talking about.”
