Mayor Iorio and members of Tampa City Council will cut the ribbon on a 1.3 mile trail along Davis Islands. The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, March 15 at 2:30 p.m.

The trail covers 1.3 miles and begins at Channel Drive. After crossing Davis Boulevard, the trail will weave along the sea wall, providing a view of the waterfront and seaplane basin. It is a 10-foot-wide asphalt trail and suitable for walkers, joggers, bicyclists, and skaters. The project included pedestrian crosswalks, signage, benches, trash cans, pet-friendly drinking fountains, bike racks, fencing, irrigation, and trees and additional landscaping. The total cost for the trail project is $461,166 and comes from $1 million Tampa General Hospital donated to the community in 2005 in exchange for leasing 0.4 acres of Marjorie Park for a 1,400-space garage completed in 2007.

With the completion of this new section of trail, The Ross J. Ferlita Greenways & Trail System now has 90 miles of trails located throughout the city of Tampa.
