Mayor Iorio and members of Tampa City Council will cut the ribbon on a new play place for tots (children ages 2-5) at3:30 p.m. on Monday, March 14 at the New Tampa Community Park with the official opening of the WeeVos play structure.

The playground is intended for use by children between the ages of 2 and 5 years. The WeeVos play equipment promotes growth and development in five key areas: physical, cognitive, sensory/motor, emotional/social and language.

Additional improvements to the park include the installation of a cutting-edge synthetic turf made of recycled tires, called Forever Turf in the playground area as well as a custom shade structure that covers both play structures. The shade structure was installed over the playground to protect children and their parents from the harmful effects of the sun’s U.V. (Ultra-Violet) rays. Drainage and lighting was also improved. Total costs of park improvements was $178,000 and funded through the Community Investment bond.

New Tampa Community Park is located at  17302 Commerce Boulevard.
