Mayor Castor has hired Marley Wilkes as her Director of Strategic Initiatives. Among Marley’s duties, will be tracking and executing Mayor Castor’s strategic initiatives that she campaigned on.

“Marley is a consummate professional with years of experience executing major projects, building non-profits and running campaigns,” said Mayor Jane Castor. “Marley will be a pivotal player in my administration and an absolute asset to the entire city.”

“I couldn’t be more excited to join this dynamic team Mayor Castor is assembling,” said Marley Wilkes. “Tampa is on the precipice of something truly remarkable and I am honored to be a part of this journey.”

Marley Wilkes has nearly two decades of political experience working with campaigns, national and state political committees, investor alliances, and non-profit organizations. She has worked for US Senators, Presidential candidates, Governor’s campaigns, and Congressional campaigns. Marley has raised and managed hundreds of millions of dollars for candidates and causes. For the 2018 cycle, Wilkes was the Campaign Manager for Bill Nelson’s U.S. Senate campaign — one of the most expensive U.S. Senate race in history.

Wilkes was also the Executive Director of Ruth’s List Florida.  Ruth’s List is an organization in Florida dedicated to recruiting, training and supporting Democratic women to seek and serve in local and state office.  During her tenure, Wilkes doubled the organization’s membership, increased revenue to $5 million, and developed and implemented a training program serving over 1,600 women. Wilkes also directed the creation of Florida’s only state-wide database to identify and recruit candidates for competitive offices. Recognized for her work in recruiting candidates and developing campaigns to support them, Wilkes has directly assisted with the elections of over 75 women.

Years of working in Florida politics successfully has afforded Marley the opportunity to build and nurture literally thousands of donor and political relationships with individuals, elected officials, allies and organizations.  She is sought after for her advice and consult in the areas of public affairs, civic engagement, business development, and general campaigning.

Marley has lived in Tampa for close to 30 years and holds a BA in Political Science from the University of South Florida.
