Mayor's Hispanic Advisory Council's 21st anniversary luncheon to feature keynote from Miguel Fernandez, Chairman of MBF Healthcare Partners L.P., and recognize Aileen Rodriguez with the Matilda Martinez Garcia Leadership Award
The Mayor's Hispanic Advisory Council's 21ST Anniversary Latinos Unidos Luncheon, will be celebrated at Armature Works in Tampa on Wednesday May 8, 2019 at Noon.
The 2019 Luncheon keynote speaker will be Miguel “Mike” B. Fernadez, Chairman of MBF Healthcare Partners, L.P., a private investment firm based in Coral Gables, Florida. The firm focuses on investing in healthcare service companies nationwide. He has been the Founder and/or majority shareholder of 25 healthcare related companies. Most of these companies have been acquired by publicly traded companies. Among these enterprises are Physicians Healthcare Plans, CAC Medical Centers, Prescribit Rx, CarePlus Health Plans, Navarro Pharmacies, Medical Specialties Distributors, Hospitalists of America, Simply Healthcare Plans and Nutri-Force Nutrition.
The Council has also selected Aileen Rodriguez as the 7th recipient of its Matilda Martinez Garcia Leadership Award. Aileen is a public affairs executive with more than 20 years of experience leading public affairs and communications efforts for organizations in the arenas of health, education, government and tourism working for Helios Education Foundation, the United States Senate, Moffitt Cancer Center and Walt Disney World. Aileen’s community contributions are exemplified by her work serving on The City of Tampa’s Human Rights Board, the Florida Public Relations Association, the Hillsborough Community College Foundation, USF's Latin Community Advisory Committee, Hispanic Professional Women's Association, among others.
Since its inception, the Luncheon has generated over $1,028,500,000 in endowed funds and has changed the lives of scores of deserving local students attending HCC, USF and UT. In 2019, the Council welcomes our newly elected Mayor Jane Castor as it celebrates its 36th anniversary as an Advisory body to the City of Tampa Mayor.
