Media Advisory: Monday: Walmart, City of Tampa to Break Ground on Walmart in East Tampa

Walmart and City of Tampa officials will break ground on a new Walmart in East Tampa on Monday morning.

The new, 120,000-square-foot Supercenter is scheduled to open late spring of 2015 and will provide general merchandise, groceries and pharmacy items at affordable prices. The new store will employ approximately 300 associates with a hiring center anticipated to open this winter.

The Walmart Supercenter is a major investment along the Hillsborough Avenue corridor and activates a lot that has remained vacant for several years. The property taxes generated from the new store will go toward the East Tampa Community Redevelopment Agency.
