Mayor Buckhorn directed the Neighborhood Enhancement division to go block by block in north and central Tampa to combat blight and target flagrant violators.

Inspectors focused on three specific areas with known blight issues. Those areas are as follows: Florida Avenue east to 22nd street between Busch Boulevard and Linebaugh Ave.; Central Avenue east to Florida Avenue between Bird St. and Sligh Ave.; 50th Street east to 58th street between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to I-4.

Six inspectors were dedicated to the program, and were out in the community 7 days a week.

The effort was modeled after the City’s successful efforts to target blight in Sulphur Springs.
