New Affordable Homes Available for Purchase

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with Mayor Buckhorn

& Marcia Mejia of Congresswoman Castor’s Office

TAMPA, FL (June 18, 2017) – June is National Homeownership Month, and to celebrate Mayor Buckhorn and other officials will be on hand on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 10:30 am to inaugurate three (3) newly constructed affordable homes in Sulphur Springs, Tampa.

These homes offer lower income homebuyers a viable option in a housing market where property values are rapidly outpacing their buying power, in what the Florida Housing Coalition has termed “an affordable housing crisis.”

Homebuyers looking for a house in Tampa are invited to attend the Open House showcasing these new EnergyStar-rated, single-family homes and other lots available for purchase.  These homes have the same quality of design and features as market-rate housing yet at an affordable price – models with prices beginning at $133,000.

The builder, Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay (RTTB) is one of Tampa’s top nonprofit developers of affordable housing. RTTB creates a vast range of high-quality, affordable homes for working families.  This project is funded in part by the City of Tampa, US Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Florida State Housing Initiative Partnership (SHIP).  On June 22, RTTB will formally announce that it was also recently awarded a Project Reinvest grant in the amount of $500,000 to build additional affordable homes in this neighborhood.

About Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay

RTTB strengthens communities and creates opportunities beginning with housing. Since it was founded in 2000, RTTB has participated in the development of over 500 homes serving more than 1,450 persons in the Tampa Bay area.  RTTB is an experienced developer that is known for its affordable homes that not only reflect the character of the community but also have the same quality of design and features as market-rate housing.

RTTB also makes critical home repairs for homeowners in need. RTTB primarily works with low-income families, veterans, the elderly, victims of disasters and persons with disabilities. The organization also rehabilitates donated homes that are then sold to those in need of affordable housing. RTTB relies on the support of corporate sponsors, public grants, individual donors, and the hands-on work of hundreds of volunteers and skilled labor each year. More information is available at
