NFL YET Center Helps Teens Maximize Their Potential

The Passport to Excellence Youth Symposium will take place on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at the NFL YET Center at Jackson Heights, located at 3310 E. Lake Avenue. On-site registration begins at 10:00 a.m. and the symposium begins at 11:00 a.m.

Throughout the day, teens will learn about goal setting, how to make a good first impression, preparing for life after high school, how to fill out financial aid forms for college, and how to build healthy relationships.
In between seminars, the participants will have the chance to ask working professionals from various disciplines about the choices they made along their journey to success.

In honor of Black History Month, the symposium will feature the Black History Fair. Students from Potter, Lomax, and Robles Elementary Schools will showcase exhibits about people, places, and events relevant to the American experience.

At 6:00 p.m. that evening, the Passport to Excellence Step Show Competition begins. Various middle and high school step teams from the Bay area will compete for cash and prizes. All Passport to Excellence participants will be given free admission into the step show; all others will be charged a fee of $5.00.
