Officers and firefighters are making a 6-year-old child’s wish for a bed come true thanks to a local restaurant. The owners of Jaymer-Que Barbeque in Brandon found out about the young girl’s request through the Sincerely Santa letter program, which gives less fortunate children an opportunity to share their wish lists with mall shoppers. When they learned that no one in the child’s home had a bed, the restaurant owners contacted Famous Tate in Brandon to purchase three complete bed sets for the family. Officers and firefighters will unload and set up the furniture at the child’s home just in time for the holidays.
The Tampa Police Department started the Sincerely Santa program in 1987 to help underprivileged kids in low-income areas. Since then, other local first-responder agencies have come on board to deliver donated toys and spread holiday cheer to less fortunate children throughout Hillsborough County.
