Officers Arrest City of Tampa Employee

SUSPECT: Dwight D. Rivera, H/M, DOB: 11/22/65, 6209 Yorkshire Court #138, Tampa
CHARGE: Unlawful Compensation or Reward for Official Behavior (1 Count)
DETAILS: A witness called 911 at 11:34 a.m. on 7/5/11 to report that a pick-up truck stopped at a vacant lot on 18th Avenue and dumped yard waste. Moments later, City of Tampa Solid Waste trucks arrived and an employee picked up the trash at the supervisor's direction. A detective later interviewed the supervisor who admitted accepting $40.00 from a friend who has a hauling business. The suspect directed the friend to dump the yard waste in the vacant lot and then asked his crew to pick up the trash. Detectives are continuing to investigate to determine if there were other incidents with the employee. Dwight D. Rivera works as a Specialty Equipment Operator, but was acting in a supervisory role at the time of this incident. The employee was transported to the Hillsborough County Jail just before 5:00 p.m. today.
