One Tampa: Relief Now, Rise Together Pre-Application Process Opens for Tampa’s Small Businesses
In an effort to lift up Tampa’s small businesses that are facing financial struggles due to COVID-19, the City of Tampa is opening the pre-application process for One Tampa: Relief Now, Rise Together business relief.
Along with the One Tampa fund for individuals and families, this business relief plan will provide critical financial support to some of those most impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. The One Tampa: Relief Now, Rise Together program will provide direct payments for eligible businesses up to $4,000 for rent/mortgage; up to $1,000 for utilities.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. They employ our neighbors, our families, and our friends. Now, we want to do what we can to help them through this difficult time so that they can keep the lights on and keep employees on the payroll,” says Mayor Jane Castor. “Our small businesses deserve our support. Many have been part of our community for generations, while others came to Tampa to see their American dreams come true. We want to see them continue to build on that dream once this COVID-19 crisis is behind us, and that’s why we need to come together as one city, one community, and One Tampa to support our small businesses in need.”
In efforts to manage high levels of traffic to the One Tampa site, the City is opening the pre-application process today, Tuesday, April 21st at 12pm and it will remain open until Thursday, April 23rd at 12pm. This will give small businesses a window to submit their pre-application for review. Applicants will receive an email within 48hrs indicating whether their business is eligible to continue the full application process, which will be made available April 24th at 12pm and will remain open until all eligible slots are filled.
The One Tampa: Relief Now Rise Together plan is designed for businesses that were thriving and had established success in their market before the COVID-19 crisis, but had to close because of the safer at home orders.
Some of the eligibility requirements include businesses that are located in one of the City’s designated ‘Low-Income Census Tract zones’ or one of the Community Redevelopment Areas. Businesses should have no more than five (5) employees at the time of the application, annual revenues less than $250,000, and at least a 50% reduction in revenue as a result of the COVID-19 crisis.
