Operation Medicine Cabinet Aimed at Keeping Pills Off the Streets

A citizen who attended the event dropped off expired prescriptions that he didn't want his kids to get a hold of.
What: Tampa Police Officers will collect unused or expired prescriptions and over-the-counter medications from citizens to prevent them from getting into the wrong hands.
When: February 19, 2011 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Where: Sweetbay Supermarket, 805 East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Tampa
As part of the Tampa Police Department's ongoing effort to crack down on illegal pill mills and prevent prescription drug abuse, officers are conducting Operation Medicine Cabinet. During the operation, citizens will be able to drop off any medication they no longer use to the department's collection site at Sweetbay Supermarket, located at 805 East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Tampa.
Home Instead Senior Care partnered with the police department to provide the collection boxes the officers will use to safely get rid off the unused and expired medications.
Citizens who want to drop off any prescriptions can remain anonymous.
