Phase 2 of Drew Park Project to Start Construction ?? Work begins on Monday, October 8

Construction for the Drew Park Phase 2 project is scheduled to start on Monday, October 8, 2012. The project includes significant upgrades to the storm water drainage, wastewater collection, and water distribution systems. Additionally, the project provides for sidewalk, landscaping and roadway improvements. Construction activity will be on Grady Avenue from Crest Avenue to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard.

The $4.9 million project is expected to be completed in October 2013. The contractor for the project is Woodruff & Sons, Inc.

Construction will proceed in several stages starting on Crest Avenue and moving to the south along Grady Avenue. As the work progresses, detours will be in place to guide traffic around street closures. The first anticipated closure will be on Crest Avenue running from Hale to Grady avenues and will utilize Clark Avenue, South Street, and Cortez Avenue as the detour route.

Access to commercial business, residences, and local roads will be maintained during construction.

Funding sources for the project include the Southwest Florida Water Management District, and Drew Park Tax Increment Financing.
