The Tampa Police Department and citizens will join forces in more than 20 locations to campaign against crime during the 28th Annual National Night Out. Neighborhoods are uniting and pooling their resources this year to host large district-wide campaigns instead of several separate community events. The mass campaigns will give police the opportunity to share its resources with more citizens. The events will also provide Neighborhood Watch Coordinators a place to network with other coordinators in their district.
National Night Out is designed to:
* Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
* Generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs
* Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police community partnerships
* Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
